Once upon a time, not too long ago, there was a young, kindhearted soul named Ellis. A modern-day digital nomad, he spent his days working diligently, traveling spontaneously, and helping other souls who crossed his path. In his spare time, he studied various spiritual teachings and pondered the meaning of his existence. Yet, he often felt an empty void in his heart that seemingly nothing could fill.

 

Whenever these feelings arose, he would apply himself to his work and service with greater intensity and zeal. His business flourished, profits increased steadily, and people praised him for his great philanthropic endeavors. Ellis was humbly proud and grateful for the success he had attained through his perseverance, creativity and willpower. Still, still he could not escape the nagging feeling there was something more to life, something he was missing.

 

“What is the purpose of life? What can I do to feel more fulfilled?” he often pondered.

 

One day, as he was strolling on a nearby woodland path, deep in thought, he encountered an elderly yet radiant spiritual being whose glow emanated peace and wisdom. It was difficult to discern whether this being was male or female, as there was such a profound aura of completeness and universality about him. Encouraged by the being’s uplifting presence, Ellis unburdened his heart. The being listened with receptivity and compassion, then spoke softly.

 

“You are trying to find meaning and fulfillment in the things around you: in business, in helping others, in studying the scriptures. These are indeed essential for a balanced life, but have you also tried looking within yourself? We are all longing for eternal happiness, contentment and bliss beyond the things of this world. The great secret of life is that everything you are seeking is already within you, waiting to be uncovered in the stillness and peace of your own soul.”

 

With a heart now overflowing with understanding and serenity, Ellis bowed in gratitude. As he looked up, the luminous being had seemingly vanished into the surrounding light. Ellis was now alone on his path, yet he felt more connected than ever—to himself, to the world, and to the infinite presence of the Divine within.
